As I suspected it does seem like me cleaning out my wardrobe actually did reinspire me. As well as letting myself embrace a new idea of my own aesthetic. I had not recodified the ways my style had changed in my mind, and although on some level I always want to allow myself flexibility, the complete lack of direction had somewhat killed my creativity.
I have recently been very inspired aesthetically by the Golden Age of Hollywood. I find borrowing some of the hair styling, makeup styling and aiming for that brand of elegance helped breathe life back into my ideas for my wardrobe. As well as mending more pieces to wear! I didn’t end up taking photos but I had a wonderful vampiric gothic Lolita cord I wore for my anniversary dinner with my husband in October. I had a lot of fun sewing on these beautiful marbled red buttons onto an old Fanplusfriend blouse that had lost several of its buttons. I find the mismatch while still respecting the color palette absolutely beautiful.
I have also been letting go of the idea that things have to be entirely matchy-matchy all the time. When I first started EGL the matching pinks thing was still an active debate and had haunted me! Letting that go is actually how the cord in this post even came to be at all! There isn’t any pink in the print, and yet I find it absolutely lovely how it all came together.
I am still finding it easier to put together Gyaru outfits for practical reasons but usually I’m going out with friends and don’t feel all that inspired to film or take pictures unless that’s the point of the outing. Hoping to continue discovering my fashion again!
Hope you all eat good food, get good rest, and drink water. Until next time!
