Well, hello everyone! It’s been a long while. I took some time off of some parts of the web in order to recalibrate but I am very happy to be back in time for the month of Halloween! I have big plans this month, I will be participating in Vlogtober again so if you want to see daily video content from me please checkout my Tiktok (@lilianarowena) or Youtube (Liliana Rowena)
Here’s my Must Do list for this month

🎀 Raid the store for early Halloween Candy and save some for props to take pics for October ahead of time
🎀 Try a new fragrance in your home depending on where you live and your mood you could go with a nice coconut or start moving towards cinnamons and spices
🎀 Give foraging a chance and look for edible plants in your neighborhood, it’ll help you feel like a frolicking maiden
🎀 If it’s safe to do so in your area look to see if there’s places you can give back to or volunteer if time or money allows
🎀 Find a new cute game you can play on your nights in be it a board game or video game to save some money on going out
🎀 As the changes of the seasons are coming upon us soon, go through your closet and sell or donate any pieces that you don’t see yourself wearing next summer, anything else that won’t work going into fall or winter can go into storage
🎀 Invite a friend over and have tea together and chat
🎀 Take advantage of any back to school sales of dorm decor to find cute decorations for your home at a good price. I find target is great to find pastel organizers if your aesthetic is on the sweet side
Self care is really important! We’ve all been through some pretty rough stuff lately and it could be good to take a moment to take good care of ourselves and do what we can to keep our spirits up. I always advocate for practical self care such as getting enough sleep, eating well and keeping up with doctor’s appointments but it is always super fun to treat yourself! Here’s a sweet lolita themed list of ways you could treat yourself!
❤ Get a kawaii bathbomb! I recently purchased a fairy themed one with a toy inside that I can’t wait to
❤ Bake a favorite sweet treat! Like cookies or cupcakes! You could find a really fancy one on pinterest to give a go
❤ Watch a cute show! My go to lately has been Tropical Rouge Pretty Cure! It is so adorable and I have been enjoying it so much
❤ Take some time to just take a break, set a timer and take a nap in a nest made of your favorite cute blankets and stuffed animals
❤ Make yourself a cup of floral tea and curl up and read a good book
❤ Clean up a space and make it super cute, light some floral or sweet themed candles.
I decided I wanted to have little calling cards for once I’m able to go to events again! It was super fun to make and I hope I get to use these next time I go to a big event! I ordered some of these off of snapfish
1.) Use a damp paper product and then a dry paper product rubbed on the wet spot and test all of the different colors of your dress to see if any colors run, if they do don’t continue,
2.) Full a tub or basin with water as cold as you can get it
3.) Add a little bit of mild detergent
4.) Dip the dress into the tub
5.) Leave the dress in there for no more than 5 minutes only lightly swishing the water
6.) Drain the basin or tub, and fill with clean water as cold as you can get it
7.) Dip the dress into the basin or tub until the water that drips off is no longer sudsy
8.) Hang the dress to dry Please try this method at your own risk!
I finally joined egl on livejournal so I could read an essay I was dying to read! I really Princess Love Being Mean, I thought it would be an interesting place to go because with my own journey with being a lifestyle Lolita I haven’t really factored being “mean” or “rebellious” into it, I often have the aspirational image of trying to be like a heroic magical girl or a virtuous disney princess. However in this brief essay that doesn’t seem to be what Takemoto-san is talking about, it seems to be more about making sure to put yourself first in situations in a lot of it. That I can agree can be off putting to others but is important to do. What threw me off of that a little though was when he said he was a big fan of models or actresses when he found out they were a nightmare to work with. I think that explains a little about Momoko as a protagonist.
Listen to Etiquette podcasts while you cook, during chores and during your commute it’s an excellent way to sharpen your conversation and social skills. My favorites are Schmanners and Awesome Etiquette.
Many classical books are in the public domain, search around to find free ebook versions to read to brush up on your literature knowledge
Watch Youtube tutorials of traditional skills, find tutorials on how to sew, draw, craft, bake and cook! There’s a plethora of information around the internet.
Start a blog! Lolita Fashion despite a lot of emphasis on historical influence has had a rich history of a thriving online community, a blog gives you a place to share and reflect
Learn how to make fancy documents on different computer programs, use special fonts in personal emails and create cute personalized print outs to help organize your life. (Make sure the emails are still readable!)
Run a fashion instagram where you share your favorite photos and moments
Join facebook communities to learn more about the fashion, there are a plethora to choose from.
3.) Buy extra princessy bedding, whatever that means to you
4.) Get really cute stationary and notebooks so you can feel aesthetic even while studying
5.) Have a daily tea time break for yourself even if you aren’t able to pull of the whole thing. Just sit for 5 minutes when you get home and enjoy a nice warm cup of tea
6.) Thrift Vintage Pajamas
7.) Thrift Vintage House dresses for days you want to be comfortable but still aesthetic
8.) Experiment with hairstyles for when you have to go to your part time job, try bow clips in already work appropriate hairstyles
9.) Create a Lolita Blog, Insta, or a simple photo album for yourself
10.) Read books from your schools library on whatever interests you, the older looking the cover the better! (Also for classic lolitas out there, libraries make great photo backgrounds near the collections of old books)
11.) If you have elective requirements try to take classes you think a victorian lady or a princess would have taken, for example next semester I’m taking a drawing course, french and am getting flute lessons from a friend
12.) Have a go to comfy outfit that doesn’t make you feel frumpy, college is hard and wearing lolita every single day isn’t realistic no matter how much you love it but it’s important to be able to be comfortable every once in awhile without taking a hit to how you feel
13.) Get colorful/fun string lights for your dorm room
14.) Invest in some cute matching hangers
15.) Get a cheap outfit mirror and decorate it with fake flowers for pretty outfit shots
16.) Listen to classical/cute/spooky music when you study, (also I know its pretty stereotypical but tea out of a fancy tea cup while studying is a ten out of ten)
17.) Follow along with intro to ballet youtube videos (just please don’t try pointe at home)
18.) Practice piano in the practice rooms in the music department
19.) Sketch things daily
20.) Go to free art events in your area or even on campus, take advantage of concerts, museums, and art galleries
