Mermaiding and Sweet Lolita Fashion!
This is something I am admittedly terrible at! I sit in weird and awkward ways and since I didn’t have work today this was a real challenge! I did my best but I wouldn’t say I succeeded, when I’m lounging at home I am a lot more found of sitting like a pretzel, although at work and events I like to think I have pretty decent posture it’s entirely situational for me personally
I love doing this on a regular basis! I love just going through the egl tags on Instagram and just finding specific things to love! I always appreciate those who find the little details in their dresses to highlight, I think it’s so sweet and wonderful when lolitas are able to have like a relationship with their dress in how carefully they coord it, one of the girls in my comm is always amazing and has a great attention to detail in all of her coords and it always amazes me! I’m actually pretty lazy as far as lolitas go I think, I wear it daily so I think I only put that amount of effort into it for tea parties and events! I think it’s also great to look at other coords for inspiration and new ways to try things! I love getting inspiration for simple straight hair hairstyles since I have pin straight hair and it takes forever to curl
Oooo!! I love the idea of a parlor game! I wonder if I can find one that would work well for a virtual meet, I’ll pop over to good ol google to find out more.
A Few 19th-Century Parlor Games to Amuse You While You’re Stuck at Home
So I found a link to some games!! Most of these work better in person but I think you could play The Mole over discord or zoom since all you have to do is ask people if they know if you’ve seen the mole but you have to close your eyes every time you answer. I think I might propose we play that next time there’s a virtual meet I can attend! Or at my birthday party!
So it’s Valentine’s Day! Sadly I am apart from my darling today due to us both working long shifts today but I can’t wait to see him this evening. I met him our freshman year of college and we started dating pretty much right away after knowing each other for about two weeks. The first day I met him and talked to him we actually didn’t sleep we stayed up all night talking to each other because we liked each other so much. It was super sweet and like a fairytale. We’ve been together for almost 5 years now! That’s so incredible to me honestly, I proposed to him back in March, sadly the wedding planning has been on hold due to the global pandemic. When he met me I was just starting to seriously get into Lolita Fashion but he encouraged me the whole way and even bought me two of my main pieces once for Christmas and once for our anniversary. He is so incredibly supportive of all of my alternative hobbies and shares his interests with me as well! He actually has started dipping his toes into alternative fashion too and it is taking all of my strength not to spoil him rotten with pastel goth things.
I didn’t really feel like doodling anything so I will just list my top 5 places I want to go!
1.) Tokyo
It’s really cliche for someone into jfashion to want to go to Tokyo but there are so many things I want to do in Tokyo that relate to so many of my interests, I do karate, love anime and wear jfashion so there would be so many places I want to go. I genuinely think I would need at least a month in Japan to get through even half of the things I want to do there
2.) Montreal
This one is super accessible to me due to only living two hours away , however any of my attempts to go are cursed I swear, everytime I have tried to go something has come up. I really really want to visit the biodome and the goth club they have up there.
3.) Paris
I have been before but I wasn’t able to stay long and it would be amazing to bring my fiance there with me so that I could enjoy it with him, I would love to see more of the Louvre one day! I only got to see a sliver of it! I found an amazingly tiny stone frog.
4.) Boston
This is also a super accessible destination but I think due to quarantine I have been dreaming of places that I could actually feasibly go to once this is all over. I love the historical aspect of boston and all of the museums! I so badly want to go to the Boston Aquarium and go museum hopping for a long weekend
5.) New York
There are so many cute fashionable places in New York City and I would love to take a fun content creating weekend there finding all of these cute cafe’s and saving up the photos for my instagram and getting to just experience lots of different themes and vibes in a short period of time
My favorite brand is Fanplusfriend! I was too tired to put in a full coord today as I was helping my mom move into her new house today, I wore this was a simple black skirt,
FanPlusFriend is the very first Lolita fashion brand I ever bought from!!! I got my TARDIS skirt from there and by the time I saved up enough money they were out of my size, but when I messaged them they made one more skirt for me, sadly I need to get the zipper fixed as it broke due to being well loved.
I used wordsmith.org for the word of the day, I got the word pensum which autocorrect doesn’t recognize as a word even though the dictionary assures me that it is, it apparently means a task, especially given as a punishment. It seems like quite the sophisticated word! I could see it being used in a historical novel for a young girl complaining about chores
So I used the very scientific method of googling brand names with the year, I mainly found Angelic Pretty
It’s honestly really interesting to see these dresses! When I first got into Lolita Fashion I wasn’t really interested in the big brands that much, my first Lolita fashion love was FanPlusFriend and it still stands as my favorite brand till this day. I wasn’t super aware of these specific dresses when I joined the fashion
It was also difficult to pinpoint when I joined the fashion but I decided to go with when I got my first piece which was 2015, I joined my local comm in late 2016
I find it interesting that I didn’t actually pay these dresses much mind at the time given the fact almost all of the people I was following at the time we’re really into 2010s sweet and my wardrobe just ended up being quite gothic to start with. I now really enjoy all the sub styles but seem to gravitate towards sweet the most
I struggled with perspective but I think it overall came out pretty darn cute!
For this post I am going to share some of the amazing content creators I have discovered and have been loving recently!
First off is Kimbuucha on YouTube! Her channel is highly underrated she has wonderfully high production value and a charming no nonsense attitude if you have never seen her work I highly recommend you go check her out! I connected with her through both of us doing Vlogmas last year!
Secondly is the Stitchess! She isn’t strictly an egl creator but brings a much needed voice about sustainability and practicality to the Lolita fashion sphere on YouTube along with several videos well researched on the history of a variety of Kawaii subcultures and styles
Next is Sweetie Sprout! She is absolutely adorable and always has her makeup on point and recently put out an extremely helpful tutorial on how to tie bows properly
I also had recently found Pearlie Cute who’s content I enjoy greatly! I appreciate her clearly spoken and well worded video with her own views on the fashion and community
Cupcake Kamisama has also made an incredibly helpful series on her channel where she talks about the more in depth aspects of coording to help take your coords to the next level which I highly reccommend
