I finally did it! I have the lifestyle lolita closet of my dreams! Well, my daydreams at least due to living in an apartment I am pretty limited in what I can do but I really like how it came out from just a couple of small tweaks
I have a hook on the inside of my closet door that is perfect for planning coords! I’m working on a Christmas coord there.
I have rechargeable closet lights I put on with some Velcro strips so I can see what’s in my closet better!
I also added a cute cherry blossom garland to the edge of the shelf
Also my closet doubles as a voice acting booth so I’m happy for the lights since it means I won’t have to audition and record in the dark! I was working on a tight turnaround on a podcast once and I was in my little closet for four hours in the dark which wasn’t great so I think I’ll be happy for the lights
Honestly this closet upgrade was just minor things since I already had the pink velvet hangers but these little details went a long way to helping me feel a little more put together and closer to my ideal lolita lifestyle.
Thank you so much for reading! Drink some water, eat good food, get some rest. Have a wonderful rest of your day!
Hello everybody I decided to round up and review some of the releases of my three favorite brands in lolita fashion. I am really excited for these releases and although I’ll most likely have to wait for things to show up secondhand I definitely want some of these.
Metamorphose De Temps de Fille
36,080Yen
This is super cute! I have been really into red lately and want more red dresses. The only thing I wish is that they had a standard length option as well ad not everyone is into long lolita dresses. It looks like it is going to be awesome.
32,780Yen
I really like the idea of this dress and the overall construction but something in the print just looks a little off to me. I think it’s due to it being an all over print but the pint is a bit big I think it would have looked bettter with either a more intricate all over print or a border print.
This set is sold in pieces
Black Zipper JSK 30,580Yen
Lace Up Sleeve Blouse 20,680 Yen
Layered Frill Skirt 18,480 Yen
This is actually 3 different pieces that when put together make the illusion of an op. I like the idea a lot and it’s a cute design but with them being sold in separate pieces it gets too expensive for me as well as it reminding me a little bit of some older gothic bodyline pieces.
30,800Yen
This dress is so cute, I love all the different colors even though it’s a standard sailor dress it looks great and is a staple in a lot of lolita wardrobes.
37,180Yen
I love the colors and the print on this dress the only issue I have with it is that the corset ribbon on the bodice is jarringly light especially on the blue colorway.
48,180 Yen Cat & Bunny Cloak
I love this so much!! It’s adorable and I am a big fan of when brands release outerwear, the only thing is I wish there was more colorways to choose from as this beige color really wouldn’t fit my wardrobe well
42,680 Yen Sailor Cloak
Cute and I think it would work great for people who have wardrobes that have a lot of military lolita
42, 680 Yen Wish Upon a Star A- Line Cloak
I like the idea of this jacket, I just think that the A-Line may ruin the silhouette of a lot of the coords that would be underneath the cloak as I see lolita coats as a replacement for a blouse (visually, not literally if it’s that cold your blouse will help keep you warm) for outdoor meets or depending on the coat even the replacement of the main piece. I don’t think this would work for that
Baby The Stars Shine Bright
38,800Yen
I am so psyched about this one!! I actually plan on buying it once I’m able and praying it ends up on the secondhand market when I’m able to afford it. I adore brocade and it’s so rare to see it in lolita fashion these days. I just adore the fairytake and magical feel of this dress and I can imagine so many ways I could coordinate this with my current wardrobe
37,800Yen
I think this is my second favorite, the bodice is just so cute and reminds me in a very tangential way of some of the Mary Magdalene dresses that originally made me fall in love with the fashion.
29,800Yen
Pretty cute, I saw this falls in the middle for me. I don’t think I’d go out of my way to purchase this but if I received it as a gift I’d be happy. There’s nothing wrong with these I’m just not a huge fan of sax plaid, I like plaid, I like sax. Kind of meh on them together.
40,800Yen
This makes me think of bodyline maid costumes so I can’t take this one seriously.
Kyudo Paris Jumperskirt 33,800Yen
The design of the dress is realy cute but something about the way the dress fits and hangs on the model makes me worried that it could have poor construction as well as the stock photos of this dress being wrinkled. I personally would skip this one
28.300Yen
Very cute and standatd design it reminds me a bit of the shirring princess JSK that I own and love
This is the same as above but you can purchase a matching usakumya and head dress, I’d probably get the usakumya but skip the headress if I were to buy this
Angelic Pretty
Happy Humming Bunny Dress Set ¥50,380
I am not a huge fan if the tulle extending so far over the underskirt but otherwise it looks great! Unfortunately that length is a dealbreaker for me especially at that price
Bunny College Classical Dress Set ¥50,600
I am entirely in love with this especially in this colorway. Angelic pretty rocked the reds this season and I want so many of these. I’ll be trying to hunt this down on the second hand.
Dreamy Chocolatier Skirt Set ¥40,480
I love this one! I really enjoy red chocolate prints it feels festive and perfect for winter and reminds me of delicious cherry lindt truffles. I loke that all of the ribbons on the dress look like the wrappings on a chocolate gift box. I want to buy this at some point.
Rose Tassel Dress ¥ 50,800
This is adorable and perfect for hime lolita, the sleeves look amazing and the little pearls on the bows are fantastic.
library one piece ¥ 36,080
This is cute and simple, it reminds me of a plaid christmas dress I had for years when I was a child
The corset bodice on this one is amazing I adore this neo oldschoolish contrstruction it looks like it would be pretty comfortable to wear and the plaid seems like it would be very versatile out of all the plaids this is the one I would want to purchase.
Tabekake Biscuit Jumper Skirt Set ¥39,380
This feels like it’s in a weird in the middle of simple and intricate and it doesn’t really work for me. There is already such a solid chocolate print being released so this feels a bit redundant to me.
Dramatic Coat ¥58,080
This coat is amazing I love it so much and if it came in my size I would want it. I don’t mind doing alterations on JSKs but I do not have the skills for a coat. I wouldn’t change anything about this.
Fluffy Heart Coat ¥ 51,480
This is not really a lolita coat but it is flipping adorable!!! I can imagine a lot of sweet lolitas, himakaji and jirai kei girls enjoying this so I think this coat was made for a more broad appeal and I think it works.
I am genuinely so excited for winter this year all of these brands made awesome stuff and I can’t wait to see the coords people make. I had a ton of fun making this. Let me know what you think of these designs? Do you agree or disagree with me?
Thank you for reading! Eat good food, drink some water, get some rest. Have a wonderful day!
Hello everyone!! I hope you are all doing well! This month’s theme for Bibliotheca is Food! Back in college I went to library near my school and they were having a 50 cent book sale and in that book sale I found this adorable book called ‘Tis Tea Time, for this month I originally wanted to make one of these recipes but with the holidays didn’t have time although I hope to make and review these in the future! I searched to see if this book was in publication anywhere but it genuinely seems it may have been specific to this Western Women’s Herb society you will see mentioned throughout the recipes!
The book itself is absolutely adorable! There are some sections on the history of tea but some of it is not quite accurate, so I didn’t include it. Also I wanted to focus on the recipes in the book since this month’s theme is food!
I think it’s cute that the sweets come first in this recipe book even though the book itself acknowledges you should always serve savories first.
Desserts!
Savories!!
I love all the little cute illustrations through this book.
Whoever curated the recipes for this book was a huge fan of cream cheese, which is fine by me. I love cream cheese.
Alternative Drinks
I am very happy to share this with you! Hopefully it gives you some inspiration if you choose to host a tea party! Maybe I’ll start a video series or some livestreams on my youtube channel trying these out at some point. They look delicious! If you try any of these let me know how it goes!
Drink some water, eat good food, get some rest, I hope you have a wonderful day!
The most obvious thing a lifestyle lolita could doto spruce up their work life is to wear lolita fashion to their job however for many of us this just isn’t something we can do! Especially at jobs that can afford us more of the fashion we love.
I actually wore lolita to work regularly at my lost job and I just got an upgrade in employment! For safety and practical reasons I no longer wear lolita to work but I find myself wearing it way more now that it’s reserved only for my leisure time.
1.) Plan cute office outfits/cute hair accessories
I love planning my outfits the night before as it helps me actually get my butt out of bed on time since I’m excited for a cute outfit. I love pretending that I’m trying to beat a love Nikki challenge on office wear while making sure that it will still fit my offices vibes. Pearls are always an elegant choice! Or simple clip in hair bows Depending on your job you may have limited freedom with uniforms so in that case a focus on accessories that make you feel good may fit better.
2.) Listen to Music that makes you happy on the way to work/at work
Depending on the nature of your work you may be able to listen to music at work, in that case get a cute pair of headphones and make a playlist that makes you feel happy like when you’re in one of your favorite outfits. If you aren’t able to listen to music at work you can listen on the commute.
3.) Pack cute food!
Learn about bento boxes, (which can be cute or elegant depending on your preference) or pack a cute country inspired picnic! Whatever matches your mood and aesthetic and bring food that’ll bring you joy when you open it up in the middle of your day
4.) Develop a Go To Makeup or Skincare Routine
Work on finding something that makes you feel good in the morning going to work! For those of you who wear makeup practicing a cute simple makeup that you love and can wear to work may help bring some of that joy and fashion to work, for those of you who don’t maybe some extra tlc for your skin will help you bring a bright spirit to work.
5.) Plan a Work Outfit and an Evening Lolita Outfit!
This is a little bit of a cheat since it’s not at work but I’ve been doing this recently and it’s so much fun! I have planned my work outfit and then an evening coord to change into when I get home. It’s been helping a lot mentally with a home and work life separation. Also, having day and evening clothes makes me feel like a fancy aristocrat.
Thank you so much for reading and I hope you got some ideas for your own life! Drink some water, eat good food, get some rest and have a wonderful day!
And the video version! I filmed in real time to show exactly how long this look takes! Hopefully it helps for my lifestylers and those who are always running late but want to look cute!
This is the simplest! Just take hair from the side of your face, twist it then pin behind your ear, I like wearing it when I have earrings I want people to notice
Half Up Twin Tails
Pull your hair back from your temple as if you were going to put your hair half up, then divide into two, use your brush to smooth out and get your tails as high as you want them, clip on accessories once your done!
Gyaru Poof
I got this hairstyle from the Gyaru community it takes no time at all and looks adorable, grab all the hair from the front of of your face pull it up and then twist and clip! Be sure to push it forward a little bit before you clip it so it makes the poof
Twist Crown
Start on one side of your part and twist adding a little bit more hair each time you twist, it’s important to keep sections as small as you can for structural integrity with the shorter hair, do this all the way around your head and tuck the end behind the beginning of the twist at the top of your head. Then attack with Bobby pins until you feel secure.
I have a lot of breakage in my hair due to swimming in chlorine and just now starting protective measures for that. Since mine had lots of flyaways, I sort of hid it with a flower crown and bow and I think it looks really pretty!
Hopefully this inspires you to try some hairstyles of your own!
A pic from the crown center when I went to Paradiso
Ever since I cut my hair short I have fallen in love with clip in bows as “headpieces” I do still like KCs, Berets and Rectangle headdresses but I found that when I cut my hair to my chin they were eating my head and making the coord feel unbalanced. I had used flower crowns as headpieces in the past but it felt like it didn’t fit the vibes of some of my coords.
I also find it a cute way to hide flyaways as mentioned in a previous blog post!! Also, clip in bows can be used for more than just hair! I also really like using them like blouse bow ties to help balance colors in coord or dress something up
I tied in the shoe and wig color with a clip in bow in this coord
Also, clip in bows can be so cheap!! I get most of mine from the dollar store and have an amazing cost per wear for them. Accessories are honestly the best thing you can save on for Lolita Fashion, since the quality between a 1$ bow and a 10$ bow is pretty slim, the difference between a 20$ dress and a 100$ is vast.
I haven’t tried it yet and it might look weird but it just occurred to me I might also be able to use clip in bows as shoe clips as well for an OTT coord perhaps. I’ll be sure to share if I do!
Do you have any accessories you think are underrated?
I have been so busy lately! I had been working a job that was slowly becoming miserable to work at and have put most of my energy and time into getting a new job which I really like so far! I’ve had way more energy for life lately and can’t wait to share that with all of you!
I am also starting to plan my wedding! My husband and I went to the courthouse already since we wanted the financial benefits and we were ready we just need time to save for the big party! I don’t plan on making content around that since I want that to be special. However I may mention it from time to time.
A delicious treat from a local cafe I tried recently
I’ve also recommitted to practicing my guitar and learning Japanese I’m hoping to do some song covers on my YouTube channel in a few months from now. I really missed traditional blogging. It was what really got me into Lolita fashion in the first place and I want to keep up contributing to that part of the community. I can’t wait to share more posts with you this month!
A sustainable way to offload your clothing and make a little money is to sell them online! That way you know they aren’t directly going to a landfill and will be enjoyed by at least one more owner. Here are some tips on how to do so efficiently!
1.) Wash Your Clothes
Once you have selected the clothes that no longer serve you, please wash them before you sell them! Fortunately I have never had to deal with clothes coming to me that have been dirty but I have heard some unfortunate horror stories from some fellow lolitas before. It is always good to make sure your buyer won’t have any weird smells or stains on their clothes
2.) Pick the Right Platform
If you’re into alternative fashion different platforms tend to sell different clothes better than others. If you are a lolita I highly recommend using lacemarket, if you wear gyaru Depop seems to be the best bet. Those are the only styles I really wear so if you want to do any other styles I encourage you to do your research to find where you can sell the easiest and the fastest.
3.) Disclose All Damage
It’s important if your clothing has any stains or tears that you disclose that in your listing. If you are honest and up front with it most of the time you will still find a buyer and keep your reputation intact. Most secondhand websites have a public rating system and it will become more difficult to sell if you have a lower rating.
4.) Post about Your Cleanout on Social Media!
If you have a social media account post about your closet cleanout on social media and include links to your listings! People who follow you will often like your style and it can help get your items into a buyers hands much faster!
5.) Be Kind and Polite in All Communications
Be sure to use your platforms terms of service and common courtesy when interacting on your chosen selling platform. You may receive shipping questions or negotiation questions. It can get repetitive, so it’s important to remember when replying to people that even if it’s the 25th time you have answered a question, it’s most likely the first time that person is asking.
6.) Have Detailed Descriptions
Be sure to include as much information as possible in the descriptions of your items! This will help your buyer make informed decisions on what they want to buy and will help you not have to answer so many DMs and questions.
(This is a no cost way to support me and my channel!, you can also earn gift cards for yourself by answering surveys. If you sign up using my link I will receive some points towards gift cards myself.)
I recently noticed on Tiktok a lot of my favorite kawaii fashion creators do a very blushy makeup style that they called Douyin makeup! I gave it a go on a livestream a few days ago
please excuse the heading, I am still new to live streaming and didn’t realize that that was on top, my patreon was launched a little while back
I found the makeup style to be super flattering and wanted to take the time to try and learn a bit more about it, at first I didn’t find much info on it but the more I looked into it it seemed to be related to an app called Douyin which although also owned by Bytedance is different from Tiktok. The makeup style is named after the app it originally gained popularity on.
As someone who has seen some different makeup styles trend, it reminds me a lot of the heavy blush trends that seem to have been in style for a few years. It honestly looks very similar to other makeup blushy and heavy on pink makeup looks but in a much more polished and elegant way. For example it looks like a blend of byojaku makeup and popular egirl makeup styles.
Seeing this contrasted visually I really like how Douyin makeup seems to combine two opposite trends of makeup in the 20s where we are seeing very over the top blushes and pinks as being popular for online content creators and more natural looks trending as well. Douyin makeup blends both of these trends together in a very beautiful and wearable way and I can’t wait to see more of it in the future.
